Financial aid

Financial aid encompasses:

  • Gift Aid - grants, waivers and scholarships that go directly toward your bill, and which you do not have to repay
  • Work Study - you seek out an on-campus job and once hired are paid directly an hourly wage
  • Loans - low-interest borrowing of funds that are applied toward your bill. These must be repaid after you have left the university, typically with an interest-free grace period before you begin repayment.

All students are encouraged to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year to be considered for any of these types of aid, regardless of your or your family’s level of income.

Scholarships

The College of Education and Human Development awards more than $250,000 in scholarships and grants each year to undergraduates. Additionally, academic departments within the college also award scholarships. These include scholarships given at the time of admission, some for supplementing unpaid internships or field experiences, and scholarships to make studying abroad more affordable. Each spring semester CEHD awards scholarships through a competitive application process, matching awards based on need, merit and expressed match to donors intentions.

Incoming freshmen

University-wide scholarships and CEHD-specific scholarships are given to incoming first year students without a separate application. Once enrolled in CEHD in the fall you will be eligible to apply for other scholarships for continuing CEHD students.
