CEHD internship grants

Grants for CEHD sophomores or above, who are planning unpaid internships, student teaching or other field experience that coincides with a for-credit course. You must be registered for the course in the same term in which you are doing the work and would be receiving the grant.

In the application you will be asked to answer the following questions in one document, which you will upload. You will also be asked to upload a copy of your resume. For resume help, check out CEHD Career Services webpage. More specific instructions on how to name and upload the documents are in the online application.

Question #1): Briefly describe your career goals (300 words or less)

Question #2): Describe the internship you are planning. Include the following information in numbered format as below:

  1. Course number, instructor, and title for your internship course, and date it was approved
  2. Employer/internship site
  3. Number of hours you are committed each week to this internship
  4. Activities or projects you will be doing as part of this internship
  5. How this internship supports your degree program and career

Question #3): Tell us about your financial need for this internship grant support. Include the following information, in numbered format as below:

  1. Financial impact on you for doing an unpaid internship this semester
  2. Number of weekly hours of outside paid work obligations
  3. Number of weekly hours of other responsibilities (e.g. family responsibilities).
  4. How will this grant allow you to make the time available that you need to do the internship? (e.g. cut back or eliminate other time commitments)

Amount: $1,500 - $2,000

Award date: Varies by award term, but is typically granted in the 5th week of the term

Deadlines for 2023-2024:

  • Fall semester, 2023 – Sept. 13, 2023
  • Spring Semester, 2024 - Feb 7, 2024
  • May/Summer term, 2024 – May 15, 2024

Criteria: Open to CEHD students in good standing who are:

  1. CEHD sophomores or above.
  2. Enrolled in an internship, student teaching or field experience course associated with their CEHD major.
  3. Planning an unpaid internship: Unpaid means you are not receiving a salary for your internship work. Small "perks" such as occasional lunches, free tickets, parking privileges, etc., do not count as salary. Modest stipends (less than $100 total) do not count as salary either.
  4. Would experience financial hardship for committing to the number of hours needed for the unpaid internship.

Priority will be given to internships and other practical experiences that fit closely with the major and career objectives of the student.
